How to really enjoy your 70th birthday - if you get there!
On the 16th of November this year I turned 70. My family asked me how I would like to celebrate and that got me thinking back over 70 absolutely magnificent years.
I thought about the 13 different schools I went to, the 7 quite different careers I’ve had, my 2 marriages, my son, my granddaughter and grandson, my 2 teenage stepdaughters, travel, reading, some writing, and a car accident that nearly finished me off.
And all of this shared with wonderful people all along the way. Wise grandparents, a marvellous mother who truly understood unconditional love, and a father who, though he died when I was 13, had taught me how to fly. An older brother, a younger sister, aunts and uncles and cousins aplenty, friends, business partners and, of course, my nearest and dearest family.
How, I thought, could I possibly celebrate all of this on one night at one party? It's not possible. So instead I chose to celebrate one event, one experience, one joyful part of the journey shared, with the wonderful person, or people, who were with me on that part of my 70 years. So I had a "birthday party" EVERY day of the year and it has been amazing!
It’s been so good that I have every intention of repeating it every day of my 71st year! It’s been really, really good for my energy.
It’s taught me that one should do something good for one’s energy EVERY day. Start now!
