ENERGY SURVEY
The Energy Survey ("eQ") measures the personal, relational, leadership and organisational energy of the participants. In the session we make everyone energy aware.
The thrust of all that Learning To Lead does is upon energy as the crucial balance necessary for effectiveness. We feel energy without thinking about it – our own, the energy in the relationships we share, the energy or lack of it in our families, our work situations and even the stores in which we shop and the country in which we live.
We feel energy but we aren’t energy aware unless we stop and think about it. Young children seem to be much more aware than we are.
We have found that awareness is helpful but elusive. We need to measure it – or at least try to – elusive and infinite a concept or “thing” as it may be. We need to try and take a quick “snapshot”.
In trying to measure it we have found linkages and outcomes. But it all starts with personal energy – my personal energy that starts inside me, but is then affected by the authenticity of the energy flows with people close to me.
So we measure personal energy and the relationship energy around us.
With the energy that is available from those sources, we lead and follow, creating team or organisational energy. So we measure leadership energy and organisational energy with more confidence.
We then postulate that customers and stakeholders are fundamentally affected by organisational energy, and that impact ensures outcomes or “bottom line”. But we don’t measure energy in these categories – it can be done at some cost, but it can be predicted, so why go to the expense?
The Energy Survey of personal, relational, leadership and organisational energy requires that the participants – the sample to be measured – do about 30 minutes of self-insight for homework by completing a questionnaire and then they all come together for a session lasting not more than three hours.
In the session we make everyone energy aware – a fun experience that is of just as much interest and value to the individual as it is to the organisation.
In three hours we can handle as many as a room can hold and as many as can be pried from their duties for the time required.
We process the information using Internet-based software, and the results are available within 24 hours.
