David Petraeus - moving from "doing" to "thinking"

"In a few weeks David Petraeus will retire from the Army, his achievements will be lauded and debated for as long as nations field armed forces. Already a passionate debate has broken out in military circles about what, if anything, he accomplished in Iraq and Afganistan. The jury is still out on that.

In truth, the general's most important legacy may lie in the role he has played in transforming the Army from a blunt instrument designed to fight tank battles on the plains of Europe, into a "learning institution" that trains it's troops for the flexibility and creativity necessary to fight guerilla wars in the information age.

For those who have seen American forces operating in combat and counter-insurgency situations downrange, there is no doubt that this is a vastly different Army than it was 10 years ago - it's smarter, sleeker, more flexible and creative.

That force is David Petraeus' greatest achievement..."

I ask myself:

• How many Corporate Generals have accomplished that transformation in their "forces"?
• How many have themselves moved from "doing" to "thinking"?
• How many have seen the speed with which a new Quantum world of infinite possibilities is surrounding and enveloping them?
• How many have learnt from the bankruptcy of Blockbusters and Borders, the virtual death of the music c.d. at the hands of iTunes and the fact that 700,000 people join Facebook every day!

Are corporates, and for that matter, schools, universities, municipalities, the State Administration transforming their "forces"?

The key to this urgent transformation is Right Brain thinking and the key to high Right Brain thinking, is human energy. High energy people use their Right Brain capacity infinitely more effectively than do low energy people, and then they synergise with other Right Brainers to create the Apples, Googles, Facebooks and Susan Boyle's of this world!
