Colin Hall

Corporate facilitator,
Email

Colin Hall earned his honours degree in law from Pretoria University BA (Hons) B. Juris. After qualifying he spent 20 years with South African Breweries, ultimately serving as a director on its board.

After leaving SAB, and while practising as a management consultant, Colin served on the boards of a number of South African companies. He was appointed chief executive officer of the Wooltru Group (consisting of retailers Woolworths, Topics, Truworths and Makro) in 1988 and was appointed the chairman in 1996.

One of Colin’s passions is people - as individuals, in teams and as part of society. Because of this passion Colin visited the Covey Institute in Utah and completed their Facilitator Training Program. He acquired the rights to Covey’s work and introduced the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People programs to South Africa. He then created the Wooltru Leadership Program whilst chairman of the Wooltru Group.

When Wooltru took the decision to liquidate in 2000, Colin retired and took the Wooltru Leadership Program and began to run the programs independently as Learning To Lead.

Since 1992, Colin has conducted programs that are changing corporate culture. Through the Learning To Lead program, which he devised himself, he hopes to create new simpler pictures of leadership relevant to the Quantum Age and appropriate to South Africa, and Africa.

The wisdom Colin uses is drawn from 50 years of business and professional experience and from a deep study of Old Cultures (especially our own African heritage), from Nature (which has remarkable lessons to teach), and from New Science (with its extraordinary ability to explain how humans and human systems work). Latterly, and most excitingly, Colin draws from the research he has undertaken on how the human brain really works.

Colin has shared this search for leadership with more than 25,000 colleagues, businessmen and women, professionals, local government officials, members of the South African Cabinet, members of the South African Police Service, educators and learners and countless heroes and heroines of the Community. All have been his teachers on the way. Client List.

Colin is easy to listen to. He uses remarkable stories which he has collected from the extraordinary variety of people with whom he has shared his Leadership Programs.

Alison has been Colin's personal assistant for 9 years as well as a facilitator of the Program. She joined him at Learning To Lead upon the unbundling of Wooltru Limited.

A BIG YES for Alison are the Learning To Lead Programs where she relishes meeting the huge diversity of people that make up South Africa's Rainbow Nation. One of her BIG NO's is the negativity with which some South African's view their Country.

Alison and her husband Michael live near the sea in Kommetjie in Cape Town.

Steve Hall

Facilitator, Johannesburg
Email

Steve has a BA Degree from the University of Cape Town in Psychology, Economics, Politics and Philosophy.
In 1993 he travelled the world for a year and whilst in Utah qualified as a licensed facilitator of the work of Dr Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Upon his return to South Africa he facilitated the Wooltru Leadership Program and contributed to the evolution of that Program into the current Learning To Lead Program. He is a Director of Learning To Lead.

Steve is a natural facilitator. He shares wisdom easily, whilst drawing wisdom and experience from the participants, many of whom will have had wider and more extensive experience than his.

His love and intimate knowledge of nature has enriched his facilitation. He uses nature as his source of example and metaphor.

He lives in Gauteng with his wife Cath and their two children, Hannah and Jonathan.
